Matthew John Hadodo
Sociolinguist

Hello!
I am a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Salzburg. I previously held a postdoctoral position at the University of Bern's Center for the Study of Language and Society and before that had completed my PhD in sociolinguistics at the University of Pittsburgh focusing on language and identity. My work encompasses variationist and discursive approaches to how people use language in relation to how they view themselves and others. I mostly have been focusing on the endangered Istanbul Greek dialect, but have increasingly been examining my home accent from Rhode Island. Regardless of community, I balance ethnographic fieldwork with sociophonetic approaches to studying language contact and change. Click the icon for my most current CV!
